Dishwasher replacement time :(

My Insinkerator 700 dishwasher, quietly died last week, after 26 years of flawless service. 2 repairmen told me it has to go.. no more parts. It looks like the day it came out of the box. I had it covered in stainless steel 3 yrs ago, when things were done to the kitchen, (remember THAT mess)? I had to bail 9 quarts of water out of it. The poor thing looks perfect.....won't even make a single sound. I will get a stainless steel one. I've started looking. The Insinkerator is the KITCHENAID 700. identical...right down to the address. I guess 26 flawless years is a good run. NO ONE will/wants to/ cares to touch it. I'm sure a new replacement will not survive 26 years. Stay tuned.

I wouldnt give up yet..

Check on AW and see if anyone is close, I bet its something simple and im sure you will be disappointed with a new one...2 hours or more to wash dishes is silly!!!

I was lucky enough to find a 1985 Kitchenaid Energy Saver V on the local Craigslist. It was a young couple who had just purchased the house and was doing a complete remodel. I called them and said it worked great as they had been using it for a while since they moved in. I understand that this was probably the last year of the Hobart Kitchenaid dishwashers before they sold that division out to Whirlpool. It's truly a hurricane in a box! They didn't know what they had.

I would not give up on it so easily though, after 26 years of faithful service surely it deserves a bit more investigation before being resigned to the scrap yard?
