Disappearing Pictures (Older Threads)?

It seems that on a few older threads, some pictures are disappearing as if their links are broken. What is going on, and are you willing to fix these problems?

Which threads are you referring too?

The only photos I've ever noticed go missing are those that were posted to an outside photo hosting site, like photobucket. Photos posted in this way are always temporary, and therefore always a waste of time from an archival point of view. It's kind of unfortunate since without the photos the threads have become rather pointless.

But if you're referring to cases where the images were posted directly to the thread and still went missing, I've never seen that before. Can you post a link to one of them so we can see what you're talking about?

It annoys me when pictures externally hosted no longer show. It's one of the reasons I always pay my Picasa renewal each year.

Although when it gets full, I have a choice of either clean up and free space or pay the next level up... Havent got that far yet

My problem has been temporary, so this is why I started this discussion as a "just in case" matter.

Usually when I post multiple photos onto one thread I host them on my own server. After a certain amount of time lapses, usually a year or so, I delete the photos (a) because I will incur overage & bandwidth charges if I'm not careful about how much stuff I keep on there, and (b) because after a while the relevancy of the photos fades.

If it was easier to batch-load photos directly to Vacuumland, I'd gladly do so (thinking in terms of how you can do this on Facebook now).
