Dirt Meter for the Kirby Classic 111.

Hi kirbykid.

What I want is one of my own so I can do several practice demo's here at home to polish up my speech. I also need a used proof-book from that era (Classic 111). While I rarely used it, I liked to have it on hand and part of my demo kit. Which is what I want to recreate before the convention.

If I can't find one, and will do a demo then I'll use yours. Fact is, other people might be lined up to do demos, but I want a dirt meter for my own use.

Hi kirbykid.

The Proof-book was a vinyl covered book of notes on that particular model, be it the 511, D-50, or Classic 111, they still use them. The salesman used it as a cheat sheet, but basically it had specific info for the customer to read as a back up on what the salesman was saying. The Proof-book was set up for the customer to see. Each page featured the part of the demo with large pictures in the same configuration as the salesman had the Kirby.

It was a training tool, because our trainees were expected to know it, and use it.

Other DTD vacuum saelsmen used Proof books for their machines too, besides Kirby-Compact-TriStar,Filter Queen,Rainbow and even 'Lux comes to mind. The salesman would point out features of the machine and also show it from the Proof Book.If there were other people at the demo-the prospects spouse-they would be allowed to look at the proof book. The Proof Book served as an "outline" for the demo.

Hi tolivac.Hi Kirbykid.

While I know what a Proof-book is, a number of collectors like Kirbykid did not. Thanks for adding important information.

Kirbykid. Do you plan to attend this year? Let me know how much you want for the dirt meter, and I'll have you send it to me.

Thanks for the information! I wouldn't have ever been able to guess what a proof book is. As for coming to the convention and price of the dirt meter, I will be coming and the dirt meter is $25 plus shipping. It will include the paper pads for use.

Hi jfalberti.

I looked on eBay and saw that, but if you scroll down a bit, you'll see one designed to fit models 517 to Legend. It's a bit pricy, but also comes with test pads, so I can practice at home prior to the convention. And yes, I'm quite aware that there may not be time for me to do a public demo. Barb may have other things lined up, or somebody from Kirby to show us other models. Frankly, this will not bother me, but I do want to be prepared if the opportunity should come up. If all else fails, I'll do it at home later this year and put it on Youtube.

Thanks for your suggestion,

Alex Taber.

Hi guys.

Just wanted to tell you that the dirt meter I ordered on eBay, was shipped this morning. Now I'll compile my demo kit for the convention.  Still looking for the Proof book, but can do without if need be.
