I recently acquired the 12V version of the dirt devil hand vac for use in the car, it plugs into a cigar lighter. Sadly, it is missing the belt cover plug. I also am on the prowl for a paper bag adapter. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to search for such things?

Not only that version, but there was also a corded version endorsed by Kenny Wallace.
As to finding a belt cover for your machine, that was part no. 1-501744-600 (black)... you might find stuff like this on eBay, but quantities are limited. Good luck!

The car vac is unchanged structurally from the hand vacs, so any of the hole plugs and the PBA (paper bag adapter) from the household hand vacs will work.

Actually the dirt devil car vac is designed completely differently internally from normal hand vacs. This is due to the motor shape being completely different, requiring a different type of motor mount to keep the machine and its motor secure which. It depends on the year of the car vac whether a disposable bag adapter will fit or not.
