So today I found the cutest dirt devil ever. This also happens to be the first model I ever used that was an upright as a child. I used to go to my dads bosses house and vacuum using one. I always wanted one but they are hard to find. This is in great shape very quiet. No rips tears or blemishes in the bag or plastic no scuffs or scrapes and the wooden brush roll is just perfect.

I have a Royal, D D Broom vac like that one. I actually
bought new in 1993. Had an efficieny apt. one little rug.
I still have it, use it occassionaly for a quick pick up.
The bag has a little bit different design one it.

I remember those. the only place in our area that carried them was Thompsons Hardware that was down on the mall they were $49.99 I would ask for one for Christmas for years. They carried them long after they discontinued that model it must have been around 1999 or 2000 that they finally cleared their stock of them. I havent seen one since they sold their last one.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought... he must mean the Broom Vac (because that's the only one I'd even consider looking twice at, save the Cruiser model)... and upon opening the thread I saw that I was right! Those are attractive machines. As a pre-teen, I had a friend whose mother had one and I wanted it badly. I still don't have one now... I love how they are reminiscent (in shape, and kind of bag structure though it isn't off to the side) of the Kirby or all metal Royals. Does yours have the rocker power switch, or the push pedal switch? I wonder if they are still pretty easy to find bags/belts for. Very interesting that you said it's quiet. I've heard just the opposite about that model... but I hope it is quite, because when I get one, I don't want to wake the dead with it!

Congrats on the great find. Though dirt devil is infamous for poor quality, I *really* miss the red and black soft bagged models of the 90s.

When I was growing up, we had the soft bagged model that had the bag mounted in the front. We brought it over to clean the church one time, the left wheel broke off during the process. A snooty Sunday school teacher who was watching pulled her glasses down and looked over them saying, "That's what you get for bringing something with the name 'devil' on it into the house of the Lord!"

Whatever!

IIII love it. How funny is that. So this one has the little switch on the left of it. I do not intend on using as I have wanted one forever and actually forgotten how much I wanted one until I got this one. I find it quiet and picks up fairly well for a dirt devil with a stick on it.
