I have an original Hoover Dimension 1000 (Has a Smoke Cover) see link below, that I bought new in 74 and am trying to find a replacement hose. It is the gas pump handle 3 wire type. I love this old work horse, it is much better than any thing I have seen out there. My wife has tried taping the hose but keeps hounding me to buy a new one. Can anyone help? Thanks, BP

I'm afraid you're pretty much out of luck.

Billy,

I hate to have to tell you this, but when TTI Floorcare North America bought Hoover from Whirlpool they pretty much decimated whatever parts inventories that there were for older models like this one -- which, by the way, was from the late '80s or early '90s and not the '70s. So, parts like the hose for your cleaner are now harder than hen's teeth to come by.

You might want to try some of the older, more established vac shops in your neighborhood to see if they might have one lurking around in their storerooms: otherwise, new ones are no longer available from Hoover, I'm afraid.

Again, sorry to have to tell you this! Good luck in your search.

Thanks so much for your reply, that is sad news, I will keep searching ebay and craigslist, who knows, maybe I'll get lucky someday. Thanks again, Billy

Billy....just an idea here, but perhaps the hose material from a Kenmore 3 wire hose could work in replacing the original hose material, & the ends could be re-used. The material that Hoover & Kenmore used looks similar enough, so mention it to your local shop & see what they have to say. It's worth a shot, at least, since as Bill W says above TTI pretty much gutted all the old parts.

Good luck....Rob
