I picked this up today at a junk store for $10. It needs a new roller and a bumper, but otherwise works fine. I have seen these in green, but not red. Was there a specific store that sold this color? Is there any differences between this and the original featherlite? any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

BTW the date code says it was made in 1995.

Upgrade

The green might be upgraded. I only come to this belief as my dirt devil that's red is standard and the blue is upgraded.
I don't know but my late 80s stick vac plus with triangle head is straight suction and is a beast at cleaning hardwood or non carpet flooring. It's a fun powerful vacuum.

Hey Les, I just noticed in pic 6 of your pictures, that Platinum Force hand vac says "power reach nozzle" on the front. Does that mean it has a electric hose to power it? If so, damn! The whole vac industry was holding out on us having those electric stretch hoses Shark & Hoover use now on their Powered Lift Away & React vacuums. If that's the case, they sure did wait a long time to bring that idea to market!!

Hey

Yes you can detach and use like a lift away.
I'd say a long time almost 20 years. I think the cannister vacuums were in demand. They have dwindled down and the need has recently arose. It is ahead of it's time.

Actually...

The platinum force handvac also came in red, the nozzles were air driven and they were not the greatest. The suction would greatly diminish rather quickly due to the poor filter design causing the brush to stop almost instantly when placed on a surface. I bought one new years ago when I was a kid I think it cost me something like $30. I had it for a few years and then don't know what happened to it.

Ya

The red dirt devil I posted is earlier version of red platinum force. I'm saying technology was ahead of the time but not the quality.
The detach mode is bad. If applied to a vacuum with power it had potential.

Never tried the Power Reach, but it looks interesting. Yes the original stick vac is a fun vacuum, although I am always afraid the fan will break during use.
