Custom-King canister Vac by Thompson and Sons

Hey Y'all, I have recently found myself to be the owner of a vintage canister vacuum cleaner manufactured in Lyons, Illinois by Thompson and Sons, Inc. The machine is in excellent condition and works like a champ. It appears to have wet/dry capabilities. I have come to this conclusion due to the squeegee type attachment. I can find very little information online about the vacuum or the manufacturer.

I have no intention of keeping the unit and want to make sure that the next owner is someone who appreciates this well made piece of American made machinery. What can you tell me about it and where can I find an interested buyer. I have no idea as to what fair market value is and would accept any advice on this as well.

It appears to be a Silver King

probably with a variation of the brand name. Here's one on eBay:

I;d be interested if you're looking to find a new home for it, The last one I bought was similar to this, I paid about $35 for it. If you'd take $35 plus shipping I'm interested in it, these are one of the kind of odd machines that I tend to really like.

Your vacuum is also known as a Silver-King. It uses a flat cellulose filter over the top of the dirt bucket, and could be considered "bagless". It has the ability to pick up 2 gallons of water. These machines were very popular in the 1960's and 1970's. They were sold by door to door salesmen, as well as in specialty vacuum shops. Silver King is still in business, although located in Colorado, and the repair parts for YOUR machine are still available. If you want to sell it on eBay, under Vintage Vacuums, I'd advise polishing up the aluminum portion of the motor unit before taking pictures for the auction.
