My DC41 (Original) does that, but not as good as the DC55. The DC25 also does it due to the 2 rows of stiff, dense/thick bristles 
TBH The DC41 I have doesnt feel as flimsy as my DC40, seems quite sturdy and not much different to my DC25 which is good so I like it
