Left to right: Montgomery Ward by Hoover with Dust Cup Model 8855, Hoover Convertible Model U4403, Eureka The Boss 1934A.

I got the Montgomery Ward on ebay for $79. It was a tough competition, but I won. I got the Hoover Convertible U4403 from Goodwill for $15. I got the Eureka Boss also from Goodwill for $10.

I did not want the Eureka, but the lady seemed like she really wanted to get rid of it, so I took it off her hands. It does not suck up very well. The best vacuum out of those 3 is the Montgomery Ward. That one sucks up so well. On the Hoover, I replaced the bag because the original bag's zipper broke and it was not fixable.

I plan to buy one more Upright Vacuum Cleaner. I am not sure which one it will be. I only have space for one more upright in my collection. Then, my closet will be full and no more space.

wonder why,

The Wards has a head-lamp that states 'HOOVER Convertible' on a private-label machine? Perhaps a replacement?

The Eureka is still sold today, I'm glad Eureka still makes the basic Eureka upright style of vacuum, as a household version, too! If only HOOVER still had the household convertible, but those were history by 1993! We're very fortunate to at least have the commercial adaptation!

Well, I have the original head-lamp, but it broke. The user took the vacuum to a place where they pack and ship for you. So he took the vacuum as a whole, and those people at that place took the vacuum apart. They somewhat broke the head-lamp. I will show you a picture, because I still have it. They also bent the thing you step on to make the vacuum go down. I had to buy a new one of those.

At my local vacuum store run I think also by vacuum collectors, they gave me a new head-lamp for free. I think I paid very little for the new thing that makes the vacuum go down. Now, it works. It sounds so much like a Sanitaire. The guy at the store told me there is something wrong with the motor, but I love the way it sounds. It sounds like my parent's Sanitaire Vacuum. Even they told me it sounds like theirs. So Im gonna keep the motor the way it sounds.

I know Eureka still makes those Boss Vacuums. I would say this is my modern upright vacuum in my collection, since it is still made today. I am going to soon be getting my last upright vacuum cleaner to put into my upright collection. I am not sure what I will get yet. I do not have anymore space in my closet. It can only fit 4 of them.
