CRT tvs

A common debate is do crts look better than flat screens, to me it depends. In my main living room i have a 55 inch 4k flat screen and love it! But in the other living room and basement i have crts. There mostly used for vhs and old black and white shows off of me tv. Now the main reason i started this post is because of a interesting thing i found and that is the 27in ILO tv with....... a built in DIGITAL tuner!!!! I love this because it now means i can use the same remote for volume and changing stations. Now here's a question who here still use crts and if so whats the brand.

I personally LOVE the old CRT televisions. I have several flat screens in my home as well, but there's something about the draw of an old CRT TV that brings me right back to them. In my living room, I have a vintage RCA 25" floor model Console TV that we have hooked up to our Wii U and the kids absolutely LOVE playing it on that old TV set. I also restore and refurbish the old antique televisions as well. I currently have an early 1950's Zenith B&W floor model TV that I'm slowly getting restored back to useable condition! Absolutely love the nostalgia they bring back!

I have two 19" CRT TVs in the bedrooms. One is labeled Sylvania and the other is Emerson but they are the same set except one is gray and one is black. They were some of the last CRT sets being sold and have digital tuners, though they have never been used with an antenna. They also have flat glass.

In the living room had a Sears 25" console from the 80s, that was a good set but it shorted out and was replaced with a 32" Sanyo, that set also had a great picture, but some expensive part went bad so it got replaced with an LCD Westinghouse. That one was just okay. It accidentally got knocked over in the dark in middle of the night so it was replaced with an LED LG which seems to have a better picture.

I still think the Sanyo had a better picture though.

The pictures of the older Znith set bring back memories.Esp the chassis shots.Did work on a few of these.And--that set has a NICE speaker-not the crappy 4" one!At this point the wood cabinet old TVs would appeal to me-the UGLY plastic ones DON'T-there is a dumpster full of them at the trash transfer site.No one wants them anymore.Screens are wrong aspect ratio,can't recive digital broadcasts,not high def.Yes-many old TV shows and BW movies do look good on those old sets.You have to use an adaptor to receive new digital broadcasts-and a modulator to use with new DVD players.I do have a Hitachi CRT RPTV set that is not being used in favor of my new LG 4K flatscreen-no longer go to theaters anymore!With two 4 K UHD dved players -just watch at home!A good thing about 4K movie disks-you don't have to sit thru trailers or have to FF thru them!

Still use CRT TVs myself! One is a woodgrain 21 in Toshiba from 1987 and the other being a woodgrain 12 in Emerson from 1991.
I'd love to get an old 50s or 60s tube/transistor hybrid set someday! Something about the warm glow is simply appealing to the eye. Modern sets are nice as well, but you can't beat an old CRT set.

I have a Zenith tv from the 90's in a spare bedroom. The sound on it is amazing and actually has bass. I usually turn it on just to listen to music channels. I think mine is the 32in. Very nice in it's day.

DuMont RA-400/401A

I got a Dumont at an estate sale for 35 bucks. It was a steal. I believe it is a rebadged Emerson as Dumont sold out to Emerson. Its from about 1958. I'm trying to fix it up currently...
