Craftsman wet/dry vacs

Does anyone remember the Sears Craftsman wet/dry vacs from the 1990s? There were some interesting models with unusual features. In particular a variable speed 16 gallon. There was also an 8 or so gallon model with a cord winder and white tank. I saw one in the trash once but was unable to get it.

I also recall they sold an optional "power nozzle" of sorts that had a brush that turned when the nozzle was pushed back and forth. It was white and looked kind of like a power nozzle, but the wands did not pivot.

I like "Shop" type vacuums,too-but due to their size and not real easy to find(Most users of these are commercial-they use the machine until it totally falls apart-and the motor is shot).Dream shop type vacuum-an NSS "Bronco" with the Blue "Horse" logo external filter bag!Most NSS servicecenters that I call about these-say they none come back in good shape-and the machine is no longer made-been discontinued for many years.they were beautiful-saw one in a Daycon janitorial products shop in downtown Wash DC in the early 70's.

Nice collection of shop type vacuums-those are ones I just don't see in the US.Cloth bag filters work good-but can be messy to dump.Can a large paper bag be used in these?Shop Vac does this.Besides their cloth filters and pleated ones-you can use large paper bags in their machines-you have to take out the paper bag,and pleated filter if you use the vacuum for wet pickups.

I have one of those alto machines , It works well, when it works but the servo's that dive the filter cleane system like to break and cost half the price of the vacuum to replace. 


 


The Idea is not new , BVC had a machine that did this back in the early 70's

90's shop vacs

we have one of those variable speed 16 gallons. I was told by someone it was made in the mid-late 80's, but I have reason to believe it was bought sometime between 1989-1994. my dad has no recollection of when he got it. the thing has been used so much all the attachments are cracking. I also saw a similar cord-rewind 8 gallon on craigslist that I was thinking of buying, but I don't need another shop vac.(I'd rather save space for the dirt devil or eureka rare ones)but this rewind model had a red bin AND a speed selector. really should have gotten that.
wish there was a pictoral history of shop vac somewhere!!
