I was wondering if anyone has a good info on where I can get some HEPA material to make a filter for my Penncrest/Hoover Constellation. I stupidly threw the original fabric filter (was gray with red and green strings) away because it was smelly - should have tried washing it. Still have the wire retainer though.

I know you can get replacement Constellation filters but it's like $14 for a new one which to me is too much for a piece of round fabric.

What I'd like to do, is make one out of HEPA cloth. I thought of getting some HEPA bags for my Kenmores and then once one was filled up, cut a circle out, wash it and use that as the filter. But I don't know if it'd work.

Nobody around here sells regular material except for Walmart, that I know of so I'm not sure what to use other than that. Is there any cut to fit material that might work from like Home Depot or Lowes? I have used some of those electrostatic cut to fit air conditioner vent filters as vacuum exhaust filters, but they are way too small for this.
