Found on Craigslist in San Antonio this weekend........couldn't pass it up for $35!!!

Has it's original hang-card, owner's manual, and parts book! Has ALL of it's attachments including the caddy bag that hangs on the back!

The rating plate...

I forgot to mention.....it's obviously had the hose replaced at some point. I'm kind of glad really, I hate those old cloth hoses! They always leak like a sieve.

I've looked for one of these forever. Found one in great shape for pocket change, so I couldn't say no!

Nice Find, Eric!

That's one beautiful Kenmore! I have the regular tank model without the cart. Also mine has the burgandy "nose cone" and side trim instead of chrome, and it is model 116.730. Yours was probably made in the early to mid 50's. Don't you just love the "prrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeennnnnnnn" sound it makes when you fire it up? Congrats,
Jeff

Wow... Looks to be in great shape and you got an awesome price on it! I've seen people trying to sell rusty Commanders with no hose or attachments and one wheel missing for several hundred dollars. I doubt they sold though! Some people are so luck with Craig's List... all I can find are Bagless Bissels and Dirt Devil Dynamites, neither of which I want!

Great find, absolutely with all the attachments, the card
and a new hose. I would have grabed it in a New York Min !
I would not quit agree with Jeff on era. I would say late
40's going in to the early 50's.

I'm curious about the date of the machine too. I know nothing about these, but I've wanted one for a long time......this particular one at that! It runs as good as it looks. Shockingly, I didn't have to do anything mechanical to this machine which is RARE for the stuff I tend to stumble across.

I believe I'll be able to get the attachment caddy remade too. After that, it'll be perfect!

Kenkart Production Info

I just checked an email I got from Steve Holvay a while back on production dates for the Kenmore tanks. According to the info he sent me, your Kenkart, model 116.732, was made from 1950 to 1953.
Steve is a VCCC member and an expert on Kenmores, BeeVacs, and anything else made by Birtman Electric Co. of Chicago. He can probably give you more info if you email him at [email protected]

If you raise the exhaust cover and look, there will be a stamp with either three or four numbers. My KenKart has the numbers 353 stamped on it at that point, which is March of 1953. They were just rubber-stamped on, but it's the month and year the machine was made. Even the round Kenmore canisters have that date under the lid.

In case y'all ain't aware, tristar (formerly known as ttuee2006) aka Eric is no longer on this platform. I was 12 years old when he left in 2009, and it was because he accused me of stalking his Flckr page.

Due to my age back then alongside the fact that I was mentally ill and in a long-distance relationship with my ex-girlfriend from summer camp back then that didn't work out, I wasn't held responsible and no one came after me. I suspect Eric had a hatred for young and mentally unstable children like me back then, hard to say.

I am sorry if what I said sounds a little personal.
