Hi there! how's you're day going?

Anyhow, Since I didn't want to flood that thread over in vintage, I'd figure why not start this thread to share our favorite Jingles of the by-gone era! when commercials were catchy and well written, causing yourself to hum the jingle in your head as you shop, and, in turn, plop said item in shopping cart!

Let's start off with Mr.Clean, Which Gets rid of dirt, grime & grease in just a minute!

Drive your Chevrolet!

Across the U.S.A (With "Chevrolet" being pronounced with an "lay" instead of "let" for catchyness

)!

With Dinah Shore!

(The only add I could find is part of a series of vintage commercials, but the Chevrolet add is first, Followed by Halo Shampoo!)

[COLOR=#003300; font-family: Garamond, serif; font-size: large]The ad is long but I do enjoy the opening. If I ever have the money, one day I'll get myself a 58 and restore it all the way.

Firestone, where the rubber meets the road is still stuck in

my head. This may not seem particularly remarkable, but in January of 1992, I inherited a pile of mint condition record albums from a friend's estate. I was talking to one of the assistant managers at my workplace in that time period, I mentioned I had all these records from the friend, and then he said his father had a huge collection himself. He said he used to sing in television commercials. I said I found the Firestone jingle suckolux mentioned rather irritating. "My father sang that for that commercial" said the manager.

D Shore sees the USA in her Chevrolet-

Chevrolet was an early sponsor of Dinah Shore and in the early 50s she was given a mildly customised Chevy wagon(53-54?)by GM.

See The U.S.A.

In your Chevrolet
America is asking you to call
Drive your Chevrolet
Through the U.S.A.
America's the greatest land of all

On a highway or a road along the levee
Performance is sweeter
Nothing can beat 'er
Life is complete-er in a Chevy

So make a date today and see the U.S.A.
And see it in your Chevrolet

Traveling East, traveling West
Wherever you go, Chevy service is best
Southward or North, near place or far
There's a Chevrolet dealer for your Chevrolet car

So make a date today and see the U.S.A.
And see it in your Chevrolet

* MWAH! *

Another One:

"Use Ajax (bum, bum)
The foaming cleanser (bum bum bum bum bum bum)
Cleans pots and pans
Just like a whiz (bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum)
You'll stop paying the elbow tax
When you start cleaning with Ajax!
So- use Ajax (bum, bum)
The foaming cleanser (bum bum bum bum bum bum)
Floats the dirt
Right down the drain (bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum)
So - use - Aaaa-jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaax!"

And Another....

"You want a beauty soap for a beauty bath
You want a beauty soap for a beauty bath
You want Palmolive Soap for a beauty bath
You want PALMOLIVE SOAP for your beauty bath!

You'll love its fragrance for daintiness
You'll love its mildness for loveliness
You'll want its purity for gentleness
You'll love Palmolive Bath Size for thriftiness!"

This was sung while the Palmolive Pixies cavorted around a young miss taking a bath.

Palmolive is still a great soap - I use it every day. Sadly, Colgate-Palmolive has cut out the "thrifiness" of the Bath Size - they downsized the bar a few years back. I will continue to use it until the bitter end (mine or Palmolive's, whichever comes first) - I'm a bar soap user and hate "body wash."
