Yesterday, I picked up a very well used Celebrity off of craigslist for ten bucks. I already have the Celebrity Elite IV which is in better shape. I plan on using this new one and keeping the Elite IV for display.

Yesterday evening I opened the Celebrity to investigate the check bag light because it wasn’t working. Two little plastic clips fell out and I can’t see what they went to. I imagine that they fit onto the cord reel somehow. The cord kept retracting so I taped one of the ends onto the brake for the cord reel. It works great now! It’s a jury rig but it seems to work.

Cord reel

There are notches around the cord reel that the brake fits into. The extra plastic piece seems to have a better grip on the reel.

End caps

The other problem I’m having is I can’t get the end caps off the agitator. The convertible method doesn’t seem to be working for this one. I’ve had Concept agitators apart before, but I can’t seem to get this one apart.

A quick fix!

Take a look at this handy man special. At least the previous owners cared enough about the vacuum to fix it. Looks like the man of the house glued and braced the housing back together. It seems sturdy to me.

The Celebrities are great vacuums!

I really love the Celebrities they are very powerful and the bags last awhile. It doesn’t seem to lose suction as the bag fills. The genuine Hoover H bags seem to filter out the dust better than the generic bags. I didn’t see any dust in the bag cavity or on the filter when I replaced the bag on my Elite IV.

The Quadraflex power nozzle is really strong and grooms the carpet very well! Yes they are a little bulky and the canister is somewhat heavy. But with me being a big guy the weight doesn’t seem to bother me. In fact I’m starting to thin out some of my collection in favor of the Celebrities and my other Electrolux, Tristar and Wards canisters.

I have a power hose in better condition on my Elite IV and I may order another for this QS. I'm afraid that it won't be as long as the original.
