I thought it would be fun to use my Hoover Celebrity tonight for the first time in a long time. I'd forgotten how powerful that power nozzle is, it just wanted to fly out of my hands! I was merrily vacuuming away and then I looked back and saw chunks of foam all over the carpet.... I guess there's a filter inside or some insulation that is just falling apart. There is no filter around the motor in the bag chamber like there should be (I bought one from a vac shop on Ebay, but the guy said that he was sorry, but he didn't have them anymore and he'd have to give me a refund).... so this filter thing must be coming from deep inside the machine where the motor is. I'm scared to take it apart..... It blew chunks the last time I used it, but it wasn't this bad and I thought it got everything out.... but no there seems to be a lot more in there! It was kind of interesting for me to have thought that I was done vacuuming and then look and see chunks of foam everywhere I'd just vacuumed.... I raced to vacuum up the chunks, and as I did, more came flying out of the machine's exhaust vents. I felt like I was getting defeated in some kind of warped video game!
So, do you think this is that "sleeve" filter that just got sucked into the motor when it deteriorated, or was there some kind of insulation inside the machine that could be doing this?
I can't seem to find the filters anywhere, so I'm thinking about just doing without them (though I know the H bag doesn't filter very well, and I don't want to hurt the motor)... maybe I could find a piece of foam somewhere and rig it up. It got so bad tonight, that I just turned off the Celebrity and starting spot cleaning with the Black and Decker Flex to get the foam up. I picked up a piece and it just fell apart in my hands and turned to dust!
I'd like to think that it's blown out all it's going to, but I don't see an end in sight... I think that there are little foam making elves in the motor just playing games with me! What to do, what to do?
You can see it getting ready to expel some more right as I shut it down... It was past the "ready, aim" stage.... I got it just before "fire"!
