Hi all I know steel city and essco don't sell carbon brushes for the vintage electrolux motors. Does anyone know who their carbon brush supplier is? I still want to fix older lux''s.
Seems like direct fit brushes for Electrolux are plentiful on ebay. But a brush is just a chunk of carbon, they come in standard sizes. Measure it, order some in the same size, and worst case you have to solder the wire lead to the original plate part, etc.
There have only been a few proprietary brushes that can't be found. One is on a Sunbeam tank I think. But there are so many electric motors out there, I find it unlikely that you couldn't make something work...even if you had to Dremel down to make fit etc.
Richard, JohnnyVac is still currently carrying carbon brushes for the Super J motors. With JohnnyVac starting to make inroads into the US vac shop distribution business, it shouldn't be too hard to find a dealer who deals with them for parts.
Yes, it seems that brushes for older models are not to be found (at least online). I've thought about finding similar size brushes and soldering them onto the old mounting clips.
I would just start a new thread and ask the membership where to find Super J Brushes in the subject line. I bought my last set online from a vac parts dealer....don't remember who. They're larger and more expensive than other Electrolux brushes.
I'm looking at two sets I bought still in plastic. One set says www.vacsewcenter.com. The other set(Super J) has lots of #'s on it and the UPC code, but no vendor name.
What vacsewcenter.com is calling "Generic Electrolux Super Brushes" looks like the Super J brushes I have. But without having them side by side, I dunno. They look correct from the pic.
