Canadian Electrolux 86

Here's my Electrolux 86 that I got from Doug in Canada when he was in the area a while ago. I traded him my Lewyt 88 for it.

This is one of my favorites since it's quiet, powerful, built well, looks good, and it's easy to maneuver. It has all of the original tools and braided hose with it as well.

Very nice and it has the power nozzle outlet too!  No automatic cord rewind?

I wonder if the Electrolux Canada plant in Montreal contracted their braided hoses from the same supplier which supplied hoses to Eureka in the 1960's. The braiding is identical! Only the colour of the "gimp" strands is different. Would be cool to find out who manufactured these hoses for both companies....

My grandparents had two of them, and I loved them to death. The automatic cord winder was optional on those machines, although I don't recall seeing one with the cord "halo" until I joined this forum. </span>

Lux 88

I do love my Canadian Lux 88 I got several years back from Dave. My Aunt had one,
brand new, just as they moved into a newly built home in Queenston, Ont. She traded her 1935 lux that she had brand new in Toronto. So I have since let the
1935 go, but just can not part with the 88. Would probably use it more, if I had the power nozzle. I remember her whole house was brand new wool carpet. It was bear the vacuum until she got the power nozzle about 2 years later. Then in the late 80's, when they moved to a High rise retirement community. My uncle took in to the Lux store for a repair and can back with the New Discovery Upright. Which I have one like it also. My aunt was not pleased, that he traded her tank in. To which he responsed, "well I do the vacuuming and I like it for a change".
Basicly the canadian lux just seem to have so much more quality and user friendly features.

Ah yes the good old electrolux z86 in my mind it could be one of the best looking vacuums they are so quiet yet powerful it's a shame machines today arnt made with the same pride vacuums once were made with. I am just wondering if you or anyone has a power nozzle to this machine I would love to see it. I have one my self but just like the z89 there are many different power nozzles that came with this machine and they are all very rare so like I said I would love to see if any one had one of these magnificent power nozzles thatks zach.

Here are the various incarnations of the 86/88 powernozzle.

In the picture you will see:

- PN1 with long handle and hose cord.

- PN1 with normal elbow.

- Telescopic wand without built in cord and hose cord

- Telescopic wand with built in cord and replacement handgrip with trigger and hose cord in lime / green (This was the last version and was out as a retrofit for the 88 /86 when the 89's were out - hence the handgrip / cord colour)

where would one over here find a replacement hose for and 89? I have a beautiful 89 with original hose but the hose is totally dead.

Well I know u can but a brand new genuine electrolux vinal hose from any authorized AERUS electrolux for around $150 I don't know if there are any around where you live but I hope this helps. Zach

I tried to get a new hose from the Aerus dealer here a few years ago but was told that they no longer make them.  I ended up buying a new hose on ebay (without the pigtail), removed the hose end and then attached the hose end from a spare '89 hose that I had.

That is strange Gary because I know at the AERUS store in my area sells them but I think since it is franchise owned the stores have the choice to sell the them or not. Zach

Zach,

Aerus no longer supplies hoses for the 80 series canisters. If your dealer says he has them, it's one of two things: 1) the dealer has custom made one, like Gary and myself have done, or 2) it is old stock.

Ok ya I think you are right I aculy just talked to him and asked him exactly what he does what he does is takes an ap style hose takes the end off and puts an 80 series end on from his stock pile but I still thought they made them just didn't carry them in stock I thought u could special order them.
