Brandywine Cordaway!!

I once witnessed a great sack of lard jump for joy over a far from perfect example of one of these... squealing and clapping so loud it echoed throughout the entire thrift store as flubbed heaved and thrusted in directions previously unknown to mankind. But it’s the great ‘KACK KACK KACK KACK’ of the clear plastic hooker heels clomping into the linoleum tiled cement floor that I’ll never forget. I often opine over the thought of one of her Colfax shoes giving way under such force and letting the beast roll a hoof, but alas, no such good fortune was to be visited upon us that day...

But anyway... I got this machine on the way out to NC a few weeks ago, was one of the museum pieces at the old museum. I’ve been in desperate need of both a Cordaway and a box top Eureka, but thanks to my good friend Tom I have both in one lovely machine!!

Nice looking vacuum. Could you explain esp on these vacuums.
I have a 89-91 eureka imperial upright with blueish green tie dye bag. It's a 7 amp and it's a beast. It's not the sophisticated look this has it's more retro flare.

ESP = Extra Suction Power. Just a fancy marketing tool to advertise the old two-speed motor feature - high and low. But I imagine these later Rugulator uprights had more powerful motors than the models of the early 1970’s. I would date this Eureka at around 1978 or 1977.

You are very welcome. That was one of the many machines I brought with me to the former vacuum cleaner museum 10 years ago this month. So glad to be away from that horrible company. You and I have been friends for more than a decade. I know it went to a great home.

Oh, I remember the beast vividly. She was definitely no lady. You were kind not mentioning her body odor.

A similar thing happened to me when the Kirby Lady from Pennsylvania came to visit some years ago. We had just entered a thrift store, it was a long kind of narrow store, and we both saw a lady Kenmore on the cart at the back of the store. We both took off for it, walking faster and faster. As we were almost passing a display of ladies underwear, She reaches over and pushes me. I fell into that entire rack of panties, and I have never been the same since. By the time I untangled myself from the bras, she was wheeling the Kenmore up to the front counter.
