Hey guys.... I bought a vacuum I've wanted for a long time now.... a Dirt Devil Cruiser... it came from people with dogs, so I wanted to clean it as much as possible. I'm having trouble getting the small hose off... I've spent hours fooling with it and had to just take a break and start polishing the metal with the dremel instead. The hose is attached to a plastic tube (and they both need to be removed and clean... they are brown with dirt and I know that will add to the smell.... plus it just looks bad. I don't know why vacuum manufacturers use clear hoses anyway, they always get dirty.

Also, does anyone know if this vacuum has an after filter, or is the only filter the one in the dirt chamber? If it has an after filter, it must be deep inside where the motor is because I can't find it.... I can't imagine that it would have the tower filter as its only one...

Anyone have a clue how I can get that stupid fill tube and hose out?

Thanks so much for any advice you can offer.... I'm at my wit's end.... I'll post before and after pictures if I ever get past this point.

close up

here's a close up.... there does seem to be a plastic tab holding it, but I can't pry it enough to let the fill tube up and I'm thinking about just breaking it.... there is a screw to hold it in place anyway.... but I don't know if there's anything else on the "other side" holding it in as well... I already removed a screw in a very tight area.... I could never fix vacuums for a living, this is a nightmare! I guess it's a good learning experience... but I'm likely to break something accidentally that the vacuum needs to function (like that tube)...

Looks like the hose is theaded into that coupler like they are on the Hoover Wind tunnel. Try twisting the hose and it should free the hose.
