Black and Decker Canister

I came across a B&D canister today. It had a powerhead and a variable motor speed control. It looked the same colour combination as the early Panasonic canisters.

I did leave it...but am wondering who made B&D vacuums? Was it an oddity?

i have only seen them for sale in canada, they are panasonic clones
