Bissell is one of the few mainstream, more sort of cheaper end of the market vacuums I would buy if I had to. I actually find most of their products well made and well designed and good performers. I was very impressed with the powerglide lift-off I had, but I had to get rid of it because of a silly design flaw of a terrible seal around the dust bin flap which dust was and dirt would leak out more or less as soon as you started using it. Other than that it was a brilliant machine.
I am looking to buy a carpet washer, deep cleaner call it what you like, and I have done some research and heard and seen good things of the Big green commercial cleaner Bissell do. A few year ago I had a pro-heat which if I am honest, didn't think much of. However I am more confident about the big green as nearly everywhere it has 4 and mainly 5 star reviews. I hope to buy one later this week, and shall post a thread to see what I think of it.
Getting to the point however, I looked on Bissell vacuum page just out of curiosity, and it is down to about 4 models. 2 uprights and 2 cylinders. Argos have stopped selling the powerglide as well as several other retailers.
The only reason I can think of the suddenly thin product line is due to the EU regulations. I have noticed manufacturers aren't really bother with the two year 1,600 of 1,400 hundred watt period up until 2017, they are brining out cleaners with less than 900 watts now.
Most likely, Bissell are developing complete new product line ups, as most of their uprights had 1,800 watt motors, other than the powerglide lift-off, which has a 1,400. I say they are bringing out redesigns, well, it would be much easier to stick a 900 watt motor in an existing vacuum like Hoover EU have done.
I don't know, any thoughts?
