Bissell CrossWave vs. Symphony - Which one is best?

After my Shark Steam Pocket Mop died, I just took it apart and threw it in the trash. Now I'm in the market for a new floor cleaner, primarily for my laminate flooring downstairs.

A member on here recommended two Bissells to me: the CrossWave, which vacuums and washes at the same time, or the Symphony, which vacuums and steams at the same time.

Which machine would be best for my needs? Below is a pic of my floor.

Glad you listened. There pretty much same machine. Crosswave is newer and I believe it has a swivel head.
They function almost the same. If my symphony dies I'll buy a crosswave. I spent $160 twice one for each level. Crosswaves were not available yet.
Find the best deal on either one and you can't lose there both good.

Hi Nick,

I had used Steam to clean my kitchen, bathroom and other hard floor areas for years and thought they were very clean. Specifically I used the Symphony Steamer and Vacuum combination. I was satisfied and the main reason I went with steam is I have a Dog and didn’t want harsh chemicals on my floors where he would be walking and near his food and water bowls.

Then one morning I watched the informercial for the Bissell Crosswave and Kathy Bissell stating how her cleaning solutions are Pet Safe and specifically designed for use in households with Dogs and Cats. So figuring if I didn’t like it I could just send it back, I went ahead and bought the Crosswave on a whim and was I pleasantly surprised! The day UPS delivered my Crosswave, I had just that morning cleaned all my floors with the Symphony Steam Cleaner and I thought darn it I just cleaned all the floors and this new machine arrives! Lol So eager to use the new Crosswave I thought ok, I know my floors are clean, but I have to give this new one a try.

My floors “Appeared” to be clean with the Steam Cleaner but when I was finished just the kitchen floor.. OMG. The dirty water in the Bissell Crosswave looked like a coffee latte! I took a picture of it after cleaning only my small Kitchen Floor, as I was so shocked that my floors had just a few hours prior had been steam “cleaned” and to my shock were still hiding that much dirt and grime. (See Pic # 1 from the first day using the Crosswave). The second picture is the Linoleum Flooring in my Kitchen to show how clean it was after using the Crosswave and it was more shiny too after as well. I have Tile, Hardwood, Linoleum and Laminate flooring.. all are cleaned easily with the Crosswave.

I highly recommend the Bissell Crosswave over any other floor cleaner as in my personal use and experience my floors are as clean and shiny as they have been in years and my white socks stay white when walking on the floors cleaned with the Crosswave. I’ve never regretted buying the Crosswave and Loved it so much, I bought my Sister and Mom one as well! If you have any pets, I highly recommend the Pet Edition Crosswave as I really love the extra features on the Pet Model.

Since October of 2016 I have used the Crosswave to clean all my hard floors once or twice a week and am very happy with the results and ease of use and cleanup. Each time, I’m shocked at the dirty water that I empty from the Dirty water bin of the Crosswave!

We have a golden lab indoor dog poodle and two cats. We have 250-300 square feet of white tile and 2 2more bathrooms taking up 350 square feet all white tile. We have 600 SF carpet and 750 SF of oak wood floors.
The Bissell symphony steam cleans and vacuums very well. The wood floor had 4layers of wax on it. We used it and makes wood vibrant. It probably just as good at mopping as crosswave. The crosswave probably vacuums better. I vacuum all floors first with my compact and 360 Wessell werk power nozzle. I then do floors with Bissell symphony. It makes them look like there brand new. Use only distilled water though.
Crosswaves is a little better as it is newer but both are light years above steampunk mop by shark.

Steam mop vs scrubber

While i've not used a Symphony I can't imagine it's steam mopping function is too different from any other steam mop.
While steam mops have their purposes I don't think they clean all that well Really you're just rubbing a cloth over your floors the dirt doesn't really any any place to go, Sure some of it is going to get pulled into the cloth but some of it will just get smeared around.

The crosswave should be able to clean more thoroughly it's putting down fresh water and vacuuming up dirty water. I've not used a crosswave but i've owned 2 different floormates. When my floormate dies It'll probably be replaced with a crosswave.

You are correct. It vacuums which can get stuff stuck totally oblivious to the picking up up water.
But dirty water going back into system .
The symphony I'm not sure inhaling dirty water is a plus.
The symphony has clean water uses pad to pick it up. I bought bona pads and they scrub and have dirt stick to them.
Now I know crosswave triple function. Mop old water pickup and vacuum has me sold.
Buy the crosswave. I'm going to be buying one in next month or too.
It's like I knew what it could do but duh. Crosswave.
