Best Craigslist Trade EVER (Sentria II)

So a few nights ago I was thinking, "Hey... I've got a Kindle Fire that's been unused for 7 months... Let's see if I can get something out of it."

Being a Kirby guy, I decided to see if someone would take my measly tablet for a Kirby. Needing a Kirby to give my mom's boyfriend, I decided it was worth a shot.

I posted in the wanted section, and within 10 minutes someone replied with, "I hate my Kirby, I want a tablet. Here's my number, let's chat." So I did and I visited her house... Definitely did not expect to get a June 2012 Kirby out of the deal...

What I got with the vacuum: (Hose is hidden in the background)

The bag was filled to the brim... I'm surprised it didn't explode everywhere when an atom touched it.

The front was so dirty. I'm glad I cleaned it up in the end:

The inside was very clean. I was actually very surprised it was that clean.

After 20 minutes I finally got it stripped down to just the tech drive mechanism and the motor.

This is when I got the motor out. Note there was Kirby crap all over my room at that point.

After a good cleaning, I reassembled the Kirby. It needed a good polish, but that will come later

Surprisingly, this is the second worst power nozzle I've worked on. My Kirby Sentria was like this but mixed with cat litter. Gross.

Future plans for the Sentria II:

Old style bag connector (I don't feel like purchasing the new bags when I have 40 of the old style bags)

New cord (Current one has electrical tape all over it)

Replace the front and back motor bearings (Dried up or something like that. They sound terrible)

New back wheel hub cap (Left one missing)

A good polishing

It's just disgusting how someone can do so much damage to a $1000+ vacuum that is barely a year old!

New Kirby

Hi WillYou can sure take that Kirby apart. i dont think i would try that Good job.It gets me sick to see how some people trear very good vacuums like that like crap i just dont understand.Doug

Being as young as I am, and knowing how it was treated, I thought tearing it apart would be a better idea to attempt it. Luckily, I've had plenty time doing this on my G3, dad's girlfriend's G5, my G6, and Sentria so I wasn't too worried while doing the repair.

So I was curious to see how the Sentria II would polish up. So I took some Mother's and did the top of the headlight a bit, and it cleaned up almost instantly.

I have a feeling that with a new cord, wheel cover, and fixed motor it should look brand new!
