This is a Ridgid wet dry vac at my local barbershop. They use it as a hair collection system in conjunction with clippers that have little ports on them for a small vacuum hose to collect all of the hair. This is the second one in two years. They had a Shop-Vac in there before this. The entire room that it was in was coated with carbon dust. Just thought I'd share this.

Wow, carbon dust? It looks like it caught fire! That's pretty ghetto, lol

The haircut places here all have some sort of floor vacuum, it could be a central vac. It looks like those dustpan bins you see in commercial settings, but attached to the floor. They just flip a switch, sweep the hair into the bin, then switch it off.

Many a Shop-Vac have perished in this spot. This is accumulated carbon dust from five vacs before it. I would get a wood shop dust collector for this situation. This thing is also in the bathroom, so when they turn it on, you might piss yourself before you get yourself to the toilet!

@huskyvacs

I've seen those before it's called an Eyevac. It's basically a much more convenient dust pan and some are touchless.

Also, how did the Rigid have you much carbon dust on It? I use those all the time and never seen that happen. I do always use bags in them though.

The barber I go to uses a BROOM and dust pan to clean up hair around the chairs.For vacuuming he uses a small vacuum that has a screen in it for a filter-no bag or bin.He vacuums your hair with the machine when done-he flips a lever on the machine to reverse the airflow blowing the cuttings out of the screen filter.These machines are no longer made-made just for barbers by a barber.Offhand forget the name or brand.Would like one for my collection-any barbers still using these won't give them up!Its a nice little unit that can be used as a vacuum or blower.The unit is a small cube with the hose and about 6" square.
