I bought this one a few weeks ago and am looking for information about it. I did post this in the 1950s/60s/70s section, though it may predate that by a few years - I'm not yet sure.

Note - On the last photo which is of the dome (I'm not sure what else to call it - the metal part that goes on the end of the canister) a previous owner glued a piece of cardboard to it to extend the length.

From everything I've seen they first started using that body style about1950. If it had the delux parts (including sprayer and vaporizer ) it would have used this style of tool kit (shown with one of my President machines).

Thanks, though when I got it I didn't get anything else that was really for it - just the vacuum and the bag which doesn't have holes in it. I wonder what the MSRP was?

I have a metallic gray specimen that's badged "Good Housekeeper." It has chrome front and end caps.

The daughter of its original owner found my web site and sent it to me quite a few years ago. It was stored in its original hassock and is in impeccable condition.

It's identical to the one in the photo although that's not mine; it's one I found on the Internet (see link).

The Apex version

Was tested by Consumer Reports in 48 I believe, model 640, I have a solid chrome one with red attachments and a grey one labeled Wizard with black attachments.

I also have an an Apex that was rebadged as a Connor from the late 1950's You can see how the body style changed even though the parts didn't.
