Another Great Find, and My New Every Day Vac

I noticed this at a vac shop here in Ohio and dickered with the owner and we came to a trade of three "Plastic"s (generic modern plastic vacuums, usually Eureka, Dirt Devil, of Hoover) for this beauty. It works great and can be run either bagged or bagless. I prefer bagged, though the bags for this are tricky to find and run about $20 for 5...

I have just found this machine in some rental accomadation! Over here is called the extra xxx with cycle tech.

The tool let it down as do the tiny wheels!

Lots of suck though! Well, if you clean out the filter regularly

Thats also branded as a Vax X(some number)

I had one in purple. Was bagless only for that model.

Was an ok machine. But the bristles on the nozzle were just to soft to deep clean.

Vax avc1/2 the bristles were naff! Great suction though! And good edge cleaning

Could you show us a picture of the Bagged part, with the bag in it? Uk version dose t have a light either

I have the Dirt Devil "i" which is the same thing as that, but bagless. It is really powerful, but the power nozzle does not lock down onto the carpet very well. Those are very neat vacuums though. I remember when the Vax ones were on clearance at Menards for $100 and I had wanted one so bad.

Our local hoover store had closed. They had em for $20 a piece. Wish I belonged here when I bought it! Would have grabbed a few for some other collectors.

Ugh... I just found out that this is, instead of an innovative, unique looking vacuum, it's just another vac design that has been farmed out to a bazillion different brands. I just found out that the same vac was made as a Dirt Devil called the "i". Again, Ugh... I guess this will just become another trade in to the vac shop... Oh well.

Oh, they're not as bad as that. I had one of the maroon Robert Bosch machines that I reconditioned. Basically all that was wrong with it was a bad power switch. IIRC, these won some kind of design award when they came out but I don't remember the details. In my opinion, they are several cuts above (other) Dirt Devil and Bissell. Lots of wires and electronics inside. Mine sold to a professional house cleaner who liked to use this model in her work. She'd been using one that wore out, so bought mine to replace it. She drove up 70 miles from Olympia to get it.

It's a nice vacuum and cleans pretty well despite it's turbo power brush roll, it has all kinds of suction. But I have several Kirbys around as well as my awesome little Hoover Elite Runabout 12 amp and my Windtunnel Dual V and the SingMore not to mention all of the refurb vacs I'm working on. At the end of the day, I only have so much room, I do live in a 1 br apartment and if I don't really like something, I don't really have the room to keep it around for no reason. Oh well, I'm already +2 at my local vac shop, I think this one and maybe one more generic plastic and I can get this DC24 I've had my eye on. I'm not much for Dysons, but I know it's good for $125 on eBay, so...

Any chance of a pic of the brushroll? I want to see if your version has stiffer bristles, ours are really soft!

As for the DC24 good luck!haha, disapointing suction. But this thing manouvers nice!

Has your camera not got a Macro focus option? even my now relatively old Vivitar camera has a Macro function...

And when taking close-ups, don't use the flash, use a light source such as a work light or handheld inspection lamp, that way you can get better quality pics, just like this close-up (about 6 inches from the subject) pic I took of my 3rd Hoover Junior's fan, Marco Focus enabled and using an LED light to the right of the camera:

Nope, it's a cheap USB keyboard sat on my Toshiba Portege M300 laptop during the period it had no keyboard or touchpad, I can't abide dell products, too expensive to repair, both from a (former) laptop engineer's point of view and as a user's point of view... :S
