carbon brushes
when i got this machine the first thing i did was switch it on for a fiew seconds it ran perfect and so quiet practically on noise at all apart from the air coming from the exhaust im so glad i didnt run it any longer

the cleaned up comutator
practically anything that could be loose was loose on this machine every screw even the runners were loose however i did find all the missing screws inside the machine .The tape holding around the fan chamber was loose and peeling off i have replaced that with some fresh tape the comutator has been cleaned its just waiting for its new brushes to arrive theres no real damage done thank god i will clean all the carbon deposits away before i put it back

Wow, that's some find! It looks new, and will clean up to be as good as new.
No idea on the screws I'm afraid, but it's always nice finding missing fixings rattling around isn't it?!

Wow what a great find I have a set and all I need is the radiator brush to complete my ZA65 set
the plastic screw thingys
i have pulled a fiew of these apart over the years but cant for the life of me remember those plastic things and i have never seen an Electrolux with such worn brushes before it must have had a lot of use will see how it performs with new ones fitted

Congrats Anthony,
I to love 65's; I have four, one of which is the early type complete in its carton and turbo polisher and has never been used, although I have run it and its sooo smooth!
I remember the second version, like yours,being demonstrated at an ideal home exhibition around 1963-5,I would have been about six at the time.The junior model being the 64 (later type with plastic ext tube, hose handle and crevice nozzle)
I even remember attempting to show my Grandmothers daily how to use the dual action upholstery/dusting tool on the stairs, I think she just regarded me as a nuisance!!
That hose looks like a late 1960's/early 70's replacement: quite good as I recall.
The 65 was in my opinion the most striking in appearance of all the luxes of the Companies period 1955-75.
If you are careful enough you can glue a large white synthetic replacement filter pad over the plastic frame; inner side... and you have a fresh filter again?
