Ambassador III Hose Question

Hi All,
I just got myself back into the Electrolux family with an Ambassador III (even came with the original 1995 bill of sale). It seems the handle on the hose is cracked and broken as also like the inner lining of the hose is failing (black chunks falling out). So it's time for a new hose.

I've found several hoses online that claim to be compatible with my Ambassador III, however they all have the "V-notch" on the canister end. My original hose doesn't seem to have the notch. Will the notched hose work with my Ambassador III? Will the notch cause a suction leak?

Thanks for the help

Good find, I appreciate the effort, however that one appears to have the plastic breaking around the electrical connector.

Looking at the photos in that eBay listing, that's a generic, third-party hose. The handle is the wrong shape and has a sliding suction relief control, instead of the knob. Also, at least to my knowledge, genuine Electrolux hoses did not have on/off switches.

All that said, I've got a couple of replacement hoses like that, and they're not terrible. To me, the biggest aggravation is the suction relief, which likes to come open on its own. That's easily remedied by one of those rubber bands they put around bunches of broccoli or celery at the grocery store. And I actually like having the on/off switch on the hose handle, except when I'm using a SideKick. Then it becomes like a puzzle to get all those switches (vacuum, hose, SideKick) turned on.

I'm not opposed to a generic replacement, I'm just concerned that the notch will cause me an issue. I can't seem to find anything online about using a notched hose on models that didn't originally have one.
