The OEM fan in my tradition and the new kirby replacement have very different vane heights. The new 119078 replacement (supposedly for 516 to LGII) has vanes which taper downwards towards the outside vs flat for the OEM. I assume the OEM would have better airflow given taller vanes?

I did ask this on another forum but got totally opposed views. Some said that I got the wrong fan, that it was for the G series and that the "other" fan was like the OEM one. The other side said that earlier or later replacement fans were identical except for spindle length.

What I got was an original Kirby fan and as best I can tell it is the appropriate one, 119078.

So are there two profiles of replacement fan or just one? IS there a taller vane fan I can buy?

Ken,

On the G3 and G4, the impeller fan still had the tall fins, but the only difference was that for these two models, in the back side of where it's mounted there is a dipped (recessed) area near the mounting hole in order for it to fit smoothly against the G3's motor unit.

This is why you cannot just bolt the metal fan onto any of the G3 series machines:
1 - G3 and G4: the back side of the impeller by where the mounting hole is must be grounded off just enough in order to clear the raised area on the G3's motor unit.
2 - G5 and up: shorter fins.

For the older machines, you can use the G5-up impeller fan, but there are spacers included in order to make them work correctly with the pre-G3 machines.
