Last night I was invited to a cocktail party. Nice people, nice neighborhood, good drinks,......not bad.

Got into the conversation with the host, and after he asked me what I've been up to lately (and I mentioned Kirby), he said that he just bought a new one! Took me to the "broom closet" to show me a brand spanking new Avalier. I liked it. A lot.

It's a beautiful machine, but.......

First of all, ...he told me that he "traded" his Sentria 2 for this. I say "traded", because he basically gave it away to the salesman. They gave him $400.- trade in value on Sentria 2, and he "saved a lot of money", to the tune of paying the difference of $2100.- for the Avalier.

The new Kirby is a good looking machine. No doubt. However,.....I failed to see any improvements in the "new model", and (to me) it looks like a "racing version" of Sentria. I might be wrong, but the "improvements" in the "new model" seem to be only skin deep (cosmetics). I dodn't have a heart to tell him that he got ripped off, and his "old" Sentria 2 was the same machine without black trim, and the "racing" handle.

Some day (few years from now), I might get one, but as it is, I don't see any earth shattering changes from G7 (Diamond) to the current one.

Maybe I should've posted this into "modern forum", but as I am hooked on the vintage stuff, I couldn't help but to compare this new "racing machine" to the previous models. Some people just have money to throw away, I guess.
