I would ask for pics, but already have a request in about some different vacuum pictures. What does one of these look like? When were they actually made?

Air-way junior.

Way back in the early 1990's I had an Air-Way junior. If you removed the long, hollow handle, and put a short one like that of any hand Vac, where the the 'indicator' would be on the upright models, you have the junior. The bag hung downward, and was square instead of the long one on the uprights. And instead of the floor nozzle, there was a hose, and interestingly a carrying strap so it could be slung over the shoulder. It was unbelievably heavy, and awkward to use. The motor unit was the same as the upright, but with the back wheels removed, and obviously no indicator. The hose was short, again the same as upright, with the same attachments. Personally I was not impressed and quickly gave it away to somebody in the V.C.C.C.

There was the Air-Way Junior (a stand alone cleaner) as well as the Air-Way Junior Service, which transformed the upright into a hand held (or shoulder strapped) cleaner.

The Junior Service came with the Deluxe Air-Way upright of the early 1930's. It included a small handle, a small outer bag that held a folded paper bag, and a shoulder strap along with a cord that included an in-line on/off switch. One would remove the long handle and plug the short motor cord into the extension cord with in-line switch. The portable handle was placed onto the machine.

The Air-Way Junior was a whole different animal. Made in the early 1920's, it was made to be worn with a shoulder strap. Big bag that hung down, very reminiscent of the Premier Junior from the mid 1910's. The cloth bag did not take paper inserts. I have the brochure in my collection, as well as the owners manual.
