Actually, the only central vacuums that you have to vent outside are true cyclonic ones, and I would suggest avoiding those since they're bagless and when you dump them out it's a big mess. Also, with these units, you have some of the dust going through the motor. With bagged central vacuum units, you don't have any of these issues. I use all of my central vacuum units without pipes, just connect the hose directly to them, the power is awesome.
