Hi all. So last week I found a local ad for a the guardian. From the pictures it looked complete. Came with floor tool, on-board attachments, at least 40 new bags, wands, electronic handle with hose. He said there was a leak at the hose handle end, the cord reel was broken and the power nozzle did not swivel. For $35, I got it.

After extensive cleaning....had to strip the power nozzle completely and scrub. Scrubbed the hoses (yes I let everything dry)and wiped everything down with disinfectant. I removed the cord reel and could not fix it. My parts guy sold me a used one (excellent shape) from Renaissance.

There were clogs of yuck and a plastic wrapper/sleeve resembling a box in the handle and a finishing nail was stopping the swivel action at the power nozzle (!!??). No leaking at the hose/handle when I finished(?).

After the assembly, the power was not getting to the power nozzle. I decided to try cleaning the switch and it now works perfectly. Then I did the cosmetic work, wiping scuffs away with 91% alcohol and a scrubby/sponge and some magic eraser to some areas. Just ordered a after market Hepa filer.

I actually enjoyed restoring this machine. I will post actual pictures soon.

Ran it Friday.....

Wow, very nice. After all of that, when the filter arrives, I am going to sell it on Austin Craigslist. The carpet looks wonderful.

The sidekick and hard floor brush had never been used. Maybe more like 35 bags instead of 40.

Cosmetically, looks great, vacuums strongly and the motor sounds awesome start to shut down.

I think this is the second to newest model. Pictures to follow this coming week.
