I am considering becoming an Aerus-Electrolux Home Wellness Consultant--serving as an independent contractor performing sales and service. Aerus franchises do not employ their home salesforces; they simply manage the sales commissions and sell the products, so that is not an option. If anyone has information about the position or Aerus in general that would be useful to my deliberation I would appreciate it.

Aerus Electrolux, formally Electrolux (USA) has great products. I am sure the job is 100% commission, but if you are good in sales, cold calling and persistent, I know people who have done real well with them.
Besides vacuum cleaners, they are now into air, and water purification products.
I personally love their products.

If you enjoy sales, you can actually find it to be a fun job. Consider this: Electrolux has millions of American customers who either currently own or know a family member who does own, an Electrolux (Aerus) vacuum. The need for bags and service on those machines continues - and that's where the Aerus dealer has an 'ace in the hole' compared to other door to door sales people.

How easy to answer a filter bag delivery with an offer (at the door) to show the 'new Platinum Edition' for free. The quietest Electrolux ever. And the most powerful. Wouldn't any current owner be interested in the newest innovation on the market?

There was a time in history when it was considered a 'career' to be an Electrolux salesman. Many people parlay the opportunity into a lifetime of being 'The Electrolux Man". Owing to the fact that there's more than one model and type (unlike Kirby or Rainbow as examples), you shouldn't find it difficult to succeed.

Direct sales...

is a great business to be in as long as you are able to door knock and do your thing. When it boils down, you are still a door-to-door vacuum salesman. While your "distributor" may promise thousands of dollars per month, you must sell like crazy to be able to make that much.

The truth is that not many people are successful with D2D vacuum sales. It takes many hours to be able to make it worth your while. Also, don't forget- they will send you a fat 1099 at the end of the year, so make sure you save up 25-30% for Obama and the rest of the clowns.

Tom and Christopher,

Your responses were informative and appreciated. Thanks much!
