A Very Sad Day for Me

This evening my Eureka Bravo that i got for Christmas. the 2nd vacuum i ever got. Died.... It was the best vac i had,but all hopes not lost. If i could find another motor for it. I could revive it. Just out of plain curiosity when was the time you lost a vac that was so important to you?

I Feel Your Pain!

One of our members here sold me an absolutely beautiful Electrolux 1205 that had been the vacuum of my dreams ever since I'd coveted one in the window of our local Electrolux agency back in 1972. It was bee-yoo-tee-full.

Unfortunately, its plastic caster guard broke within weeks (helped, I suspect, by my other half's epic clumsiness). This was absolutely no fault of the seller. The caster guard is a part that is no longer available, and even if it was, it would be a booger to remove the old one and install the new. I ended up tossing the machine, minus the motor the seller had so carefully rebuilt, and a few other parts.

I have another 1205 I'm working on, but it's not the same. That first one was soooooooo gorgeous, and a dream come true.

Well let me start by saying I recently relocated to florida and had to leave numerous behind after a bitter divorce. During this time I had to leave my home behind and have him sell it. Well he moved his boyfriend in and they took all my vacs to storage and all but threw them in the unit. I finally made it there and because of the shotty work and non climate controlled unit many were ruined. I was able to save numerous well over 80 or so. The ones who did not make it were 3 electroluxes two plastic wand mint power bars (snapped in two) a hoover swivel top a mouse had made its new condo! and my favorite (tears) vintage green hoover junior still in its box and had made several mice homes I beleive they thought it was a project of sorts. Also a fabulous filter queen.

I digress I have never lost one in action but I am not sure what is worse. Going out in a blaze of glory or being senselessly abused and ruined.

Bravo

Did the motor burn up? I have revived oodles of these Bravos with sick sounding motors by simply replacing the fan end bearing cup and new screws and greasing the back bearing. The switches on these are also prone to going bad. The motors are easy to get apart. Is yours a 12Amp model or an older 7-10 amp version?
