As a rule I never fool with cleaners much newer than the early 70 s. But I thought I would try to broaden my horizons a little. So I brought this Hoover Concept 2 in and cleaned it up. It's a really nice cleaner. But better to look at than to use. It cleans great. But the power drive would drive a preacher to cuss. Too jerky not smooth like the modern day kirbys. All in all I'm not going to wrestle this thing around. Next I'm going to try the Innovation. It looks like new. But I probably will revert to a good Convertible or Eureka from the 50s. Lol. I just can't get excited over plastic. Get ready guys because when we get moved some of these are going to be going away

I never did care for the self propel on these. The DAM always was a smoother experience for me.
But, you need a whole team of horses to pull one of these without the powerdrive...

Hoover Power Drive sure has some traction!

Part of the reason is those awesome geared wheels! Imagine what a Kirby G would be like with rear wheels that had teeth!
I’d love to devise a sulky to attach to the back of a Concept Power Drive or a Kirby Tech Drive and ride through my house.

It reallycleans the carpet though, but

I have a similar machine and don't like it either.Too jerky and the dirtpath clogs easily.You have to be careful what you pick up.Things that a Kirby or Royal will eat end up clogging the Concept.Don't try to pick up "bulk" with these.The hand vacuum is interesting-but of little use.Mine is the "Electronic" one with the variable speed motor.A LED "bargraph" display lights depending on the speed setting you use-I leave it on full.The whole graph lit.

I like the Kirby tech drive much better than the full self propelled. And I prefer the gearing of the newer models much better than the G3 to G5. Feel they run smother and more manageable.

I just junked a machine like this, I paid $7 for it a a garage sale not knowing that the outer bag was full of dust as someone couldn't figure out how to change the bag, they had a new bag in it, just never shoved it on the tube. The brush strips were all but gone and power drive didn't work. If brush strips were not NLA, I would have saved it, I did put off the decision for a few weeks until I realized it was just taking up space.
