So, after trying to talk myself out of it, I decided to give in and buy myself a graduation present!
Behold! A Brand new-in the box-Eureka ESP model 2061.
I decided to put this in the vintage forum, even though it probably seeps into the early 80's, a bit--it's unused in the box, and at least 20 years old. 
What a fantastic cleaner! Really sucks tight to the carpet! When cleaning the frieze carpeting, I have to set it on shag so it doesn't kill my arm to push!
