A Few Saturday Finds...

Well....today my good friend Jimmy (aka Vibrabeat) came by and we went to the Canfield Swap Meet in Canfield, OH. We were SUPPOSED to find car "stuff". It turned out to be very wet and rainy and more of a vacuum day as you can see from the photos.

This first pic is a gift from Jimmy himself (a very generous person!). He brought me a tool bag for a deluxe Convertible tool set. These are often missing as they tore fairly easily. However, you can imagine my excitement when he showed me a BRAND NEW Hoover crevice tool still in its original blister pack! It is from an Akron dept. store called Polskys which is long out of business. Price $1.50...having this original item in my collection...PRICELESS! Thank you Jimmy!

I also ran across this very nice (super clean barely used) Kirby tool set for a model 3C (whatever that is???) along with a little book about the man that changed homes (Jim Kirby). The tubes are plastic as well as the crevice tool. The dusting brush is shiny aluminum and wood. I just thought it was pretty! I do not have a Kirby to go with them!

How about this little gem...hose is missing but I am SURE that I have another one some where! This is a late 60's Penncrest "Pixie" type cleaner attachment set. I really like the box...Thanks for carrying the box through the rain, Jimmy! I know how much you LOVE Penncrest items!!! (not really...Jimmy and JCPenney have some bad blood...I am really surprised that he did not leave it out in the rain in a puddle someplace!)

Another great find...tons of C bags and a nice model 70 Convertible instruction booklet...

And this beautiful model 62. The cord had been replaced with a genuine Hoover cord (white) and the Handisac assembly had been replaced with a type C tube setup. It runs perfectly and looks to have been very well cared for as there are no signs of rust on the machine. The original bag was a little frayed near the top but otherwise this one will clean up very well.

Good show, I was hoping to be up before 8a.m. and hit a couple of church rummage sales but alas I was a little late getting up and out the house at 1030. No vacuum related stuff at all or possibly gone.

Equating it in Hoover terms, it'd be like finding a mint boxed set of 150 attachments with the instruction booklet and the extra little fold-out booklet about the 150, you know, the one that tells about how it's made of "space-age magnesium," AND a mint copy of "The Fabulous Dust Pan."

Hey Tom, had a GREAT time today, even in the rain! Gave me a good chance to use my new yellow rain slicker I had saved for Hershey, but no rain last time I went there....

We did find some great things today, including the PENNCREST box....(NOT!) Ha, yes I like JC Penny's about as much as you like Maytag......

I got the Spirit Hoover vac you gave me all cleaned up and running smoothly.......along with the Hoover Hand Vac that I got at the thrift store........

Oh yes, I did get some car stuff Tom, cans of Freon R-12 !! Yeah! I ALWAYS looks for those.......

I'm with Charles on this one. I'd trade every item you got today and then some for those Kirby tools. They are so very rare!!!

The Hoover crevice tool in the first picture has a lot of memories for me. There was one that went with my mothers Wards bagged quick-broom with power nozzle. That was a fun cleaner, and I always loved the crevice tool for some reason. It might be the grooves on the side. I still the crevice tool and hose in my the basement. The vacuum is long gone though.

If you can scan and post some of the Kirby paperwork, I (and many others here) would really appreciate it.

Of all my Hoovers, I think the 62 is my favorite. We had one given to us by my mother's aunt and it was later given to my grandmother. I have a beautiful 62 now which was lovingly worked on and got a new cord from Roger two years ago. I found two at a sale and he took the best of both and made a great cleaner - just finished using it tonight!

Great finds, all - don't you just love flea markets?

Either the Kirby tools or the Hoover 62 alone would have made the day worthwhile, everything else is frosting on the cake!!

I did not realize that the Kirby tools would be so interesting. Does anyone want to trade something Hoover for the Kirby tools? Otherwise, I guess I should ebay them???

I think ebaying them would fetch you a fair bit of money, but before you do anything, please scan the paperwork! Some nice closeups of the tools would also be great.
