I don't think I mentioned about my Hoover U6331-930 Dirt Finder but it's been a busy year as usual. But I brought this Hoover on eBay back around March of this year and it worked very well after installing a Concept quadraflex brushroll and plate. So I decided to take it apart to refurbish to make it look nicer and I even installed a NOS 20 bladed Elite fan for a better performance. I also had to replace the control cable and sleeve because the original cable was snapped and the sleeve was dried up from age. It's 24 yrs old. But after putting everything back together I noticed the power drive was going forward normally but when going backwards the power drive wheels are moving very slow. And the dirt finder wasn't working properly since the wires snapped off the solder on accident while I was cleaning up the bag tube and tried to solder back in but I don't think I was soldering correctly. Haven't solder for a long time. So I'm was hoping if there's anything to get my Dirt Finder to be working properly again. It's a great vacuum than any other vac from today and a nice piece of Hoover history too.

Well you'd have to desolder the work and resolder it again properly. Have to make a good electrical connection. The power drive issue could be an issue with the cable routing (getting caught on something) or the cable is too slack for reverse gear.
