This one made my day.

What are the chances of finding a BRAND NEW never used 1958 Kirby 518 with all the attachments still packed in there original box's. Slim to none guy's. But I did.

Here's my newest addition to my Kirby collection. My pride and joy BRAND NEW Kirby 518 and its attachments.

The seller, grandma's nephew found this in his deceased grandma's storage locker and decided to put it up for sale at his garage sale. He just thought it was an old vacuum cleaner grandma bought, didn't like it or ever it. So it ended up her storage unit still all packed since 1958

I'm going to admire this ole Kirby for a while. But no doubt it will most likely end up going up for auction in the future. And it won't be cheap.

WOW!!!

That is an AMAZING find! Sounds like Grandma made the mistake of letting a Kirby salesman into her house, & the only way to get rid of him was to buy the vacuum....so up in the attic goes one unwanted vacuum!

Besides the cord, I also noticed the hose looks to be a replacement too, unless it's just my eyes....but that does appear a darker red than what was originally supplied in those years.

Ole Timer here!

Good call guys on the cord and the hose. Being a collector who remembers thoses 1950s with a very vivid eye. Saw the all Red cord and the hose. Was not going
to say anything. Now that you have pointed it out, just wanted to confirm my
thoughts too. The org. Cloth Bag is awesome !
Congratulations have ever the history works out !

The bag also looks...

like the bluish gray bag from a 560, or 561. My parents bought a 517, and it had the gray bag, with a long angle point painted on with the round logo in modern script.  I wonder if this was a refurbished repo Grandma bought, perhaps unwittingly?

The 518 had the speckled bag as shown above, but the cord as mentioned is incorrect. Originally a solid grey cord, with red plugs.

Nice rebuilt Sanatronic 50 on eBay guys.

Nice fully rebuilt 1965 Sanatronic D50 w/attch & shampooer unit listed on eBay by a seller who is an owner of a vacuum shop. eBay item # 180924004399

Worth taking a look at if your looking for a really nice referbed Kirby.

Beautiful!

I think it's stunning! Adjusted for inflation, that is what it would have cost NEW in 1965. It's not that unreasonable.

@kirbyloverdan, you made it clear to all earlier this summer you had no issue with finances. Why gripe about prices now? :)

Excellent restoration, though!! If I were a Kirby collector, I'd be all over it!
