Just wondering who here has already gotten their hands on one, (in the States especially) and what are your thoughts on them in relation to it's predecessor, the X4.

Alex- (vacuumdevil) if you're reading, could we possibly be seeing a review of this machine sometime in the near future?

Just got one of those X7 Sebo--Like it a lot-up there with my Kirbys! One of the few clean air machines that truly WORKS!It has a 12A motor and its cord does get warm after you have used it.The cord is long and reaches most to where I have to sweep with it.

I got the x7 pet boost in the black overall its the same as the x1 and x4 besides a few things the headlight better after filter and some cosmetic differences honestly when your not using boost it seams to clean about the same as the previous models, when in boost I think it cleans better then the previous models

Sebo basically made the changes to get it through the then EU regulations. They improved the emissions with a better exhaust filter reduced the motor wattage and I believe made it a bit more quiet.

I've heard the auto height adjustment has also been improved 🤷 They are only minor changes I'd like to see a redesigned upright from Sebo it's well overdue but I realise it costs a lot in research and development.

I have a X7 which I love. I’ve noticed the difference in performance even without using the boost button it grips the carpet more but still glides over the carpet with ease. The boost feature gives a deeper clean for stubborn dirt or pet hair or to lift down trodden carpet pile. In the UK it has a 890 watt motor but it’s more powerful I think compared to my other 2 X4’s! Not sure on the motor amp for the US version? The automatic height has been updated to work differently and better to previous generations which I’ve noticed! The new foot pedal is taken from a version of the commercial range which has been used on them for a while now! I quite like it.

It does share many parts to the previous 2 X generations but under hood it is different to previous generations. The chassis is completely new along with the hood, new circuit board and wiring setup too! Having seen both with the hood off.

I can’t see SEBO ever replacing or completely redesigning the X as it’s one of their most popular models. It’s what 29 years old it was first launched in the UK in 1991 as the X1! Why fix something that’s not broken and works! I know people have different opinions on this! I think it’s sometimes a mis understood model, the idea of the Automatic X is for the user to switch on and go and the machine does all the work for you! The Felix offers the other features like manual height adjustment and variable power if you required though features!

Be interesting to see if the Felix gets updated or redesigned with that being about 15 years old now I believe! Probably not as SEBO are not a manufacturer to just change things for the sake of it! They make changes or introduce new models because it’s a ‘real’ change, improvement or update that has a purpose. They might put an LED light on the ET-1 Powerhead!

I agree John but a clutch system to be able to use it on hardfloors would be good an onboard hose that will reach to the top of the stairs without having to use the extension hose and a swivel head.
These improvements could quite easily be incorporated I think.

Sebo Felix

I absolutely love my Sebo Felix, it's a very good design so why change it? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. With this whole corona virus thing, I'm thinking the Sebo office here in the states is probably not receiving anything from Germany so it may not be possible to purchase a Sebo machine for a while, that would be a shame as they are the best vacuums that are currently made in my view. It would be interesting to compare the cleaning performance between the X series and the Felix.

The Sebo works well for carpet agreed but your average customer is not going to want to purchase an upright for cleaning carpets and a cylinder for hard floors they will want one vacuum to do both so having a clutch system to turn off the brushroll would be a good addition so would an onboard hose to reach to the top of the stairs. It's all about convenience 👍

I had a Sebo before and they sold a floor brush for it. All I did was tilt the vacuum with one hand

while vacuuming hard surface floors. . .

Having owned and use the X series both the X4 and X7 I can appreciate the design, engineering and how it is used. I feel the same ‘if it’s not broke don’t fix it’! The automatic X series is one of SEBO’s best selling uprights even today so after 29 years on the market they must be doing something right for it to still be manufactured and sell! The changes in the X7 are welcomed to give it an update!

The X4/X7 works perfectly on hard floors from my personal use and there is always the soft brush roll (green bristles) if you have delicate hard floors or carpets/rugs! I think the average user/customer won’t think of buying an upright for carpets and cylinder/barrel for hard floors! Longs they see it works on hard floors ok for them that’s all they’ll bother about! I see so many people use the X on hard floors fine!

I’ve spoke to a few people before about brush roll off, onboard stair hose on the X plus a swivel neck! I see where they are coming from, I’ve thought about it before myself! That’s until I appreciated the design of the X machine so for me I don’t think they are needed. That’s why they developed the Felix to offer a swivel neck and brush roll off features! Plus easy detected body for stair cleaning! For SEBO I think to add these to the X series would be adding extra complex engineering to the design and extra weight to the machine with the stair hose! Plus it would take away surely the very feature many love about it the quick draw hose and wand! You’d be messing around trying to put the long hose away! Plus the added complex air path!

SEBO is about making a machine easy to use and maintain that performs and lasts! The automatic X from a general user point of view is about simple switch on and go and it just works!

I much prefer hose cleaners such as canisters, central vacuums or backpacks. The Felix is the only upright I have in my collection, I don't plan on getting any other uprights but I think the Felix is awesome. In my opinion this is the best upright that is made and is the only upright where the power nozzle can be removed and a hard floor brush attached. I'm actually surprised more manufacturers have not done something similar. When it comes to current vacuum manufacturers, I think Sebo is one of the best, if not the best you can get.

You're forgetting the Vorwerk Mike another fantastic cleaner that you can also attach a hardfloor nozzle. It's a very nice nozzle it pivots so makes it easy to get into corners etc

What about the Essential G series.. I heard from a few people that the cleaning and manual carpet adjustment on those machines was far superior to any X4/X5. I guess I'm wondering now that the X7 is out, are they in par with the G1/G2, or is cleaning pretty much the same.

I would prefer the G series with Manuel height adjustment. I can choose the height myself rather than have it chosen for me.

The G series isn't available in the UK but I could get one from Germany.

I was curious since not too many people talk about the g series.

But I agree, the automatic height adjustment would drive me crazy.
I always thought you all had them in the UK, interesting.
