Royal 401 Canister and 597 PN

Just picked up this lovely little Royal! These are “before” pictures, as it’s going to be taken apart, cleaned and polished up. I’m very surprised it came with this power nozzle, and it works beautifully!

Very nice royal and the color is my favorite color they made. I was wondering the amps on the motor and how the airflow is.
I also remember your lewyt. How are you liking that too.
How does airflow compare between the 2.

Les... 6amps tank, 7amps with PN. It has EXCELLENT suction!

The Lewyt I gave away, just never really warmed up to it.

The 597 power nozzle I have to agree is one of the best ever made. It almost rips the rug straight out of the floor! Well, maybe I exaggerated, but it lifts it the way a Kirby does and cleans beautifully!

I’m having a lot of fun with this machine. I ordered bags and a filter on Amazon the other day and they were supposed to arrive yesterday, but didn’t. Hopefully today. The machine does have a relatively clean bag already in it, but I’d prefer a fresh one.

So far I’m very happy with this machine, especially the power nozzle!

I had the same only mine had a saddle type tool carrier and cordwinder. IIRC I think mine was a sister model Electro Hygiene. I had to look under the tool carrier to see the name. That nozzle is a beast and I believe it uses a full size Royal brushroll, and so quiet. I gifted mine to a friend who opened his house to convention attendees a couple of years ago, Phillip Muller. Awesome piece from the early '80s, Chris. It's one thing to have such a rare attractive vintage specimen, but the fact that it's such a stellar performer, too, is very cool. Congrats!

Thanks for answering amp.questio.i want a royal power team but these royals are alot smaller and can be had alot cheaper. Does this have exhaust port for blowing?
I can see you not lewyt. I'm sure it's a good vacuum but it's an acquired taste.

Are Royal canisters direct-air?

...or are they bypass? I've never seen a Royal canister in the flesh, much less apart.

I'm pretty sure direct air cyclone technology. I'm not sure many vacuums are bypass.
