1994 Kirby G4

So, I got her off the land of ebay for £43.00 ($56.05) and £14.99 ($19.95) A bit more than I wanted to pay but meh, I've been wanting one for a while ao why not?

The only work needed was - The typical strip, wash, bearing grease and reconstruct, also a new bulb, which the seller did state, but cost me nothing extra as I had several spare.

She was in VERY good condition to my surprise. A touch of corrosion on the aluminum but nothing earth shattering. To be fair, it did appear to be regularly serviced (explained further down)

Anyway, best shut up and begin with the resto pics (Before video link as usual)

Showing some of the corrosion, the corrosion om the wheel axle was cleaned up with a wire brush. Showing the grime built up, and brushroll all dismantled.

89410 - 8 being the branch no./factory it was made in, 94 = 1994, 10 = October.

Front fan case removed (probably should have put that in the previous post but meh) and tech drive removed.

For some reason I didn't take a picture of the motor removed. But anyway, into her nice hot lemony bath.

Motor all dismantled. The date on the field is November 29th, 1993.

Carbon brushes are a touch low, but they still do have a fair bit of life left in them. I'll moat likely replace them at the same time as the bearing.

Anyway, why she appears to have been serviced ~ Hardly any carbon dust around the motor, for me this kind of indicates its been disturbed recently-ish, when removing the fan, I found a wheel date which (can't remember the month) was dated as month - 2011.

And finally, don't know if anyone else finds this, but I have found that on nearly all machines I've had that has been serviced at one point,there's ALWAYS at least one screw missing from somewhere.

Motor all cleaned up, reassembled and everything placed back into the chassis.

Unfortunately I scuffed up some.of the paint but no biggie as its not going to be seen.

Time to rummage around the parts box. Forgot some of the bits I had in there!

All finished. Well, technically. I still need to remove the paint scuffs off the emptor. I misplaced my surgical spirits/rubbing alcohol :/
