So, I picked up another bargain of a Lux from The Land of Ebay, for £3.40, almost complete with tool kit. The only thing missing from the tool kit was its extension wand.

Only thing that was needed was new bearings for the brushroll and the usual ~ Strip, wash, clean and plenty of TLC!

Before pictures as usual then afters.

Pic #1 ~ Tool port cap is broken, but will be easily fixed. #2 ~ Some battle scars. #3 Wheel cap which was broken before or during transit. #4 ~ The fill tube is missing its little sponge "doughnut"

Sole plate removed. Surprisingly, the brush strips look new and the belt looks almost new and is genuine.

Motor ~

Motor stripped as much as it possibly can. Unfortunately Electrolux crimps the fans together thus not being able to remove them. The carbon brushes have plenty of life left in them.

Also, the bearings are a little dry.

Some sun damage and a weird large patch of heavy scratches and dirt. Both had to be lightly sanded back and then covered with T-Cut scratch remover.

After ~

#1 ~ Basket full of freshly washed and dried parts. #2 ~ Freshly serviced motor. #3 ~ Motor places back into the chassis.

Unfortunately, the royal appointment has worn slightly.

It says - "By appointment to her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the II, suppliers of suction cleaners and floor polishers, Electrolux Ltd, Luton Beds."

Inside the bag compartment with a nice fresh filter in place. New bag fitted with a new sponge in place.

I love the 1070's! They were Electrolux's budget cleaner throughout the early 90's, but were better than both the Glider and Contour than ran above it. This model was actually brought back due to large sales of backstock z1055 and z1065's and ran right up until about 1995. They were a bargain too at only £49.99 towards the end of the run.

Here is my one manufactured right here in Cape Town

I loved these, I had a contour downstairs and one of these upstairs in our in apartment in those days.
They came in This beige colour and red here. In my office was a grey one that stood to one side all sad. It never made it into production. I wish I had kept it
