(1992) Dirt Devil Plus 503 FIND

I found this at my Habitat for Humanity for 15 with everything but the Crevice tool. I now have 3 hoses and yeah. I bought it out of Impupse because I thought it was an Earlier Plus Model. I also thought it was Rare. Will work on Tomorrow or in the Coming Days.

There is one rare Dirt Devil hand vacuum out there that is quite difficult to find: it's the all-metal Deluxe 501D model, which is the same as the Royal 501 Prince but with the Dirt Devil label.

I read it was made from stocks of unused 501 parts, when Royal was phasing out this oldie hand vacuum during the '90s. It was truly a limited-edition model, as most people associated the Dirt Devil name with the plastic vacs rather than with the metal construction of the 501.

Hmm Interesting! Seen Parts bin Specials sometimes and didn’t know they did that with 501 Parts. Very interesting.

It cleaned up well. Also, the attachments cleaned up well as well. Also bought the Crevice tool and Eureka tool with it.

Dirt Devil 503

Victor,

The first iteration of the 503 was the very first Dirt Devil hand vacuum when it was first introduced in 1984. In this form, it had a 20-foot long cord and a tool kit was included with the machine.

In 1986, the 503 model number was reassigned to the Dirt Devil Plus, which differed little from the original except for a longer, 25-foot cord. Hence they did a new basic model in the form of the 103, without the tool kit (but could be purchased separately). 1986 also saw the introduction of two different two-speed models: the standard-issue (red) 523 and the "Pro Series" (for authorized Royal dealers; blue color) 533; the second speed was useful with the tool kit.

Ahh. Very Interesting.

This whole time, I thought the 103 was the First Model. Didn't know that the Original 503 was the First one. Thanks for the Info.
