I believe this just might have been flawed from the beginning... why?

When I tried to fully lock the cap with the nozzle on, it won't.

Picture 1 shows the lock does work as intended, if the nozzle is off.

Pictures 2-3 show the apparent flaw of the device, as when the nozzle is on, the light cap won't close down all the way for the cap to be able to lock into place.

I ask: has anyone else experienced this problem with the light cap lock, when the nozzle, Miracle Head or Rug Renovator is attached?

You have the locking hood sensor and regular safety switch.
I believe you wire one switch or the other. The tradition has two speed. It could be you have issues with wiring.
It's really cool picture of the headlight engaged. I have never seen it engaged thanks for the pic.

Les,

Yes, I do. You can also see in the 1st picture that the speed switch will also need to be replaced soon, as the selector arm is binding which will cause it to run on high speed all the time whenever the machine is plugged in and the cleaner is switched on.
