So I just found a Hoover Sprint 100 at my local thrift shop the other day for $17.99 in perfect shape, complete with tools. According to the serial number, this one was manufactured May of 1989. I'm pretty sure the 100 was the economy model, but how many different versions were there? I know there was also a Tempo, PortaPower II and Hornet, but they seem somewhat rare nowadays. Did they not sell well? Other than the small bag chamber it seems like a great little machine.

Great Find!

Although these canisters were sold into the early-2000s, they never show up, especially the TOL Tempo with a PN. Since I've never used or seen one in person, they must either be made extremely well or extremely cheap, as they are just never for sale! Here is brochure for the Sprit 100; the very BOL. Isn't that a great looking children's bedroom?

Hoover Sprint upright

Hoover also made an upright vacuum called the Sprint. It was a part of the Elite line. My grandmother actually has one and its red and still works. It looks exactly like the Hoover Encore Supreme as I have no pics of it. It was probably one of the BOL models since it has the top slide bag changer and but it has a hose and tools. But on the hood it had a headlight cutout but no headlight. Sort of like the now discontinued Hoover Commercial Elite but on the Sprint it's red to match the body color.

Sprint

I had one of the Sprint uprights too.
Isn't it odd how Hoover started to use the names over and over?

Very confusing for people buying bags.

It seems the name Convertible appeared on other vacs after the real Convertibles were gone, if I remember correctly.

Thank you so much for the photos and a little more info on the Sprint/Tempo line. I recall P.C. Richards selling the Hoover Hornet in the early '90's for something like $69.99. And yes, making different models with the same name creates confusion for the average consumer. I have the centennial edition Convertible which for all intents and purposes is the Saavy. No where near the build quality of the original Convertible. There was also a hardbody version of the Elite named the Convertible. I see now there is a bagless version of the Elite with a cordwinder, but again, build quality was much better for the early '90's Elites.
