Beautiful!!

Wow what a beauty Hans. I am wondering if that machine ever had runners instead of wheels in an earlier model. My aunt had an Electro Hygiene that look almost like that but I am pretty sure it had runners.

Showing the famous contraption that was supposed to " PURIFY " the air,you snapped off the chrome cover and poured some crystals that they hawked as germ killers into the opening, snapped the cover on and slid the plate back so air could be drawn thru the crystals.

I've got one too, but it looks like the metallic blue color of mine is brighter, and it has a cord winder.

It's a great machine and built like a tank!

As to wheels vs. runners, earlier Electro-Hygiene machines did have runners but I don't know if this exact style of model did.

I do know that there's a similar Royal machine that came first with runners (or metal "slides" actually), then later with wheels. See below.

I did find this Electro-Hygiene photo while looking for the ones above. It's similar to Hans' and my machine but obviously older in light of the design aesthetics. Maybe that, or a similar machine, is the one you recall, Terry? [I don't remember where I found the photo - anyone recognize this machine?]

Where's our resident Electro-Hygiene expert when we need him?!

Hans, you noted that this E-H is similar to the Royal 901 which is true, but isn't it funny how the long oval point is on the front of the Royal and on the rear of the E-H!

A few years ago I played the theremin for a German rock group called PhonoRoyal whose lead singer is a sweeper nut who found me on the Internet. He wanted to use a theremin on his next CD, and wanted to have photos of my collection.

Well, rather than fly me to Berlin, the band's manager sent a recording engineer here to Los Angeles with a portable digital recording rig and a high-end digital camera. He was here about a week recording me and photographing my vacuum cleaners.

When he saw my Royal 901 he whistled and said, "Wowwww! That looks like a Giant Metal C###" ... *ahem* ... er ... I won't say the word he used, I'll say "Schwanzstucker!" [recalling Young Frankenstein]

Imagine my surprise when a box of PhonoRoyal CDs came in the mail and I saw the front cover!!

I had one with wheels now living with Doug in Saskatchewan (gesundheit) Nice vacs and fairly quiet iirc.

off topic.. I see a Nutone Kitchen Center in your countertop, is it working.. I found one not too long ago at the Habitat store and not really wanting to install it

Yeah!!

It works, the mixer is worthless, but the blender and slicer are great as is the food processor.
